Scopes Trial
The Scopes Trials was an American legal case in 1925 that took place in Tennesse in which a high school teacher, John Scopes, was accused of violating Tennessee's Butler Act which made it unlawful to teach evolution. John Scope was found guilty on July 21st, 1925 but the verdict was later overturned and he was set free. The trial lasted eight days but it only took the jury nine minutes to make their decision.
